Episode 435: Power BI Meets Git and MCP

Power BI development is starting to look a little more like software development—and AI is becoming part of the workflow.

In Episode 435 of the Microsoft Cloud IT Pro Podcast, Ben and Scott explore two Power BI MCP servers currently in preview and how they can help with tasks like writing DAX, cleaning up data models, and turning a collection of tables into a more usable semantic model.

Ben shares a real-world example of using MCP to tackle a 44-table QuickBooks Online model and why the experience worked better for him than using Copilot directly in Power BI.

Then the conversation turns to PBIP, the Power BI project format that opens the door to more traditional development practices.
